Keeping an alternate backup in addition to the daily one

Thread needs solution

Back in the old days I could make a full backup without resetting the archive bit, thereby creating a full backup without affecting my other full+incremental scheme.

Disregarding the built-in feature that will create this type of 'extra' backup automatically - is there a way to accomplish this on demand without affecting my scheduled full+incremental or full+differential?

Not sure I am understanding for sure.
You can create a new task and run it manually whenever you wish (via the program or a desktop shortcut) and the name of this backup will differ from the others so it would not conflict with any other tasks.

Or, with version 2011, the task options offers the abiitity to create a desktop shortcut and clicing that shortcut can run a previously created task without interfering with the schedule, except, if you have it set to create new full after x inc/difs, the manual would count toward the numberic count .

The new 2011 has lots of variations possible when you create a custom backup scheme. Simulate creating a new task and set the backup scheme to custom and then click on a bunch of the cleanup or considation options. I believe you will find something usable.
