Latest Build, a significant improvement, but is still not perfect!
For the last week, I have been evaluating the latest Build: #6055!
This appears to be a significant improvement over the initial release!
It has proved stable, on my windows 8.1 64 bit desktop, and there have been no crashes, or freezes!
However, it does not fill me with confidence, for two reasons!
ONE!
If you look at the attachment, you will see that I back up my personal folders, twice a day, morning and evening, each to a different hard drive!
Both these incremental backups have been verified, every day; one states "this backup, is valid", but the other doesn't!
I have tried validating each in turn, and always get the same result; so why is only one marked "this backup, is valid" -- Is the second one not valid, despite having a Green tick!
TWO
The other point which gives me rise for concern, is that 2015 does not stop my PC from shutting down, if I forgetfully try and shut down, when a backup, or validation is taking place!
With 2014, which I have reverted to, if I forgetfully try and shut down, when a backup, or validation is taking place, my desktop commences to close down, and a Blue screen appears, with a message on the lines of "Operations are in progress, your computer will close down automatically, when they have finished"!
I find this more satisfactory

Lots of users had had many issues with this approach though. I think Acronis made the right choice here.

I prefer the 2014 mode of operation, Pat; specifically, if I do shut down my PC occidentally, with a backup in progress!
A full back-up of my data, typically takes 6 hours; hence, it can be most annoying, with 2015, after say 3 hours, you shut down your PC, without thinkin, and then find you have to start your backup, again!
I have attached two more views, taken with 2014, which give me more confidence, in the software
The first shows the system validating a backup; Note that unlike 2015, this shows validating "all versions of the backup" - 2015 just shows validating - It is not clear whether this is just the last backup, or all versions!
The second, unlike 2015, shows both my backups are valid!
Finally, I ask myself, what does 2015 offer, above, 2014!
I have checked the the size of my C drive, with both installed (not at the same time), and I cannot observe any space saving!
I have checked the time, it takes to complete an incremental backup, and validation; 2014 appears to be a little quicker!
2014 has never failed me!

There is one thing I really like about the 2015 version: wireless support in the recovery CD.
I don't use Acronis True Image for any of the features outside of disk and partitions backup. Not that I didn't try since ATI 2011... I always found that Non stop backup, file backup email backup, try and decide, Acronis secure zone, recovery manager ended up creating too much trouble. At the opposite end, the core function of imaging and recovery has never failed me. Your mileage and preference will vary, of course. I personally think ATI 2015 is the right direction for most of the users, although advanced users will miss certain features...

I agree with all of that and also that ATI2015 is in the right direction mostly - when it works.
The one thing I do use in addition to those which Pat L mentions, is 'mount image' which I would rather have inside ATI than outside it - but so long as it does work in Explorer, I guess it does not really matter.
