less used space after cloning

Thread needs solution

Does anyone know why after cloning my source disk shows 133 GB used but the target drive shows only 110 GB used space. 13 GB seems to be missing on the target drive after the cloning process. I am using Acronis True Image Home 2012 version. I am using the Automatic Cloning procedure.

My notes regarding my last clone:
sep 13 2014
before clone:
c: 132 gb used
f: 118 gb used
after clone:
both 132 gb used

BUT when I checked capacity on sep 16, 2014 something has changed on the target disk:
c: 133 gb used
f: 120 gb used (13 gb now missing, why?)

Could this be because Acronis does not copy unnecessary files to the target disk, like Windows swap files?
I have been using Acronis for several years. If so, why is the "used" capacity the same just after cloning, but a day or two later the target disk mysteriously shows far less used space?

I have the same problem. I have two Hard Disks exactly the same size. After I cloned one to the other, the target disk has almost 50 Gigabytes less apace used than the source disk. I even changed my boot order and booted from the target disk and it still has 50 GB less space used than the original disk.

What is going on here. When I uncheck Hide System files and highlight all files and show properties, both disks show the same spaced used within a few KBs. That makes sense, but a difference of 50GB on properites of the disk does not make sense. Also, Disk Director show a 50GB difference. I would expect everything to be the same after a clone.

I am using Disk Director 11 and True Image 2013.

I see the original qquestion was asked almost 3 years ago and does not have an answer. I am hoping that this question will get bumped to the top and someone will answer it.

If I don't receive an answer, I will try posting again as a new question instead of a response for a 3 year old question.

Thanks,
Lane
