Limited user can Stop but not Start Non-Stop Backup

Thread needs solution

I have installed TI Home 2010 on Windows XP Pro

All settings were made as an admin user

Currently running as a limited user - in the bottom right is an icon telling me Non-Stop Backup is turned on.

If I righ-click on it, I have 1 option greyed out (Start) and 2 options available - Stop and Browse.

Browse it stops me doing as I do not have Admin rights

Stop I can do.    The trouble is, the icon then disappears and I do not have an option to Start it again.  If I try opening the TI application, it says I do not have Admin rights.

If a Limited user can Stop, why not Start too ?

Hello Snot!

Thank you for your question, and please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

I would like to shed some light to the situation and help you with your question.

In order to start the Acronis True Image Home 2009, backup or the Non-Stop backup your User needs to have the permissions to start particular services and also should be added to the backup operators group, etc.. Thus in this case the limited user you are using may suffer from the lack of these particular rights. For stopping no special permissions required.

Unfortunately at the moment it is difficult to say what rights should be granted to the User, so I'm going to contact our development team regarding this question, and will update you on Monday - Thursday.

Should you have any questions - feel free to share them with me!

Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Dear Snot!

I have contacted the development team regarding the question you have submitted, and currently we have the following state of the issue:

At the moment this function is reported to be incorrect: one shouldn't be able to stop the NSB in case it cannot start it. We have forwarded this case to the Testing team and as soon as we have the results from them, Developers will start working on the fixing for the issue.

Unfortunately there is no term regarding the time of improving it available, but be sure we will get this fixed.

Should you have any concerns and questions - don't hesitate to share it with us!

Thank you!
