A LOT of problems !

Thread needs solution

Hey there,

My Name is Christoph and I am writing from Germany

I am the owner of the following products:

Acronis TIH 2011 & 2012
Acronis 2012 Plus Pack

My System:

Core I7 on LGA 2011 Board
16 Gig's Ram
4x Samsung SSD 830 128 GB in Raid 0

My "Problems":

Acronis 2011 (i know 2012 support forum here) installed properly, it started very fast, everything is fine until I want to work with it! I click on Backup and the only thing the Program do is linking me to the acronis store for buying an "plus pack" for using acronis with my GPT RAID 0

I was silly enough to buy the plus pack, why it was silly ? This "great" Text's Head is "Acronis 2012 plus pack" and in the Text, everything is 2011 ?!?! https://forum.acronis.com/sites/default/files/forum/2012/06/32537/buypl…

So I buyed this pack with the note to use the same build number if you want to use it with 2011, but you can get the SAME build number NOWHERE !

I stayed cool and deactivated the 2012 License from my Laptop and Installed 2012 with plus pack on this machine after deinstalling 2011.

Installation process was fine, until I want to back something up !

when I hit Backup and want to put the Image on my Network drive just like years before with every System (even on 2011 before i had gpt etc.) the program hang up, even the log does not say a single word about a problem while backing up, it just hang up in a grey window.

Now I have 2 copies of acronis, 1 x 2011 & 1 x 2012 + plus pack 2012 (haha) which are not working (yes the laptop does make problems either but I dont mind of that now, i will tell later) for a relative heavy amount of money

so because my "support plan" is running out and this company does not want to speak with me until i buy thier time for me (ppi license) I will ask you, meaning the community and maybe the only way to get answers !

best regards

Christoph

ATI 2011 does not support GPT disk, unless you have the Plus Pack, as you discovered. ATI 2012 does. See: http://kb.acronis.com/content/2974 and http://kb.acronis.com/content/24018.

Often, GPT disks are dynamic disks which are not supported unless you have the Plus Pack, but with significant limitations: http://kb.acronis.com/content/6533.

Wrt to your network drive issue, try to backup first to a local disk to make sure the problem is in fact with the network drive.

Hello and thanks for your reply !

I tried to back up to an FTP server, it seems to work, the window does not hang etc.. but what should I do to make it work the right way -> network drive ?

best regards

Christoph

Christoph,

When you select the network drive, you have to enter the credentials and test the connection. Was the test successful?
If yes, are you positive that the user that you use to connect has the right privileges to write/delete on the share?

Hello Pat L,

I am absolutely sure I have that previleges (until Acronis themself is not changing it, I tested the connection as successfull and even used the Administrator Account from my Storage Server with no success !

Another Machine connected the same way using ATIH 2011 works like a charm !

best regards

Christoph

When I say "test the connection", I mean click the "test connection" in the window that ATI shows when you enter the credentials for that destination. I just want to make sure you have entered the credentials at the right place in ATI and that you have tested the connection within ATI.

OK. So If I understand correctly, you can test the connection to the destination within ATI, but then the program doesn't allow you create a backup on that destination, it just hangs after the destination selection window?

OK. Did you try to uninstall, create a clean boot environment with msconfig (disable all non microsoft services and all startup items), reboot, and reinstall. See if that solves the issue.

disabled everything in services not microsoft related, EVERY startup process, de installed, rebooted, installed, rebooted, run a task and crash !
