Managing Backup Storage

Thread needs solution

Background:
- Using Acronis True Image Home 2011 full version
- Waited too long to get free support
- Made stupid decisions on backup methodology causing many versions
- Made stupid decisions on version chain causing several backups plus incrementals < 6months
Problem:
- TB storage is running out of space
- User manual written for Martians
- U-tube videos produced by Martians
- Can’t find knowledge base on this issue that is likely simple but exceeds my wattage
Questions:
- How do I delete or remove *.TIB files from the Archive?
- Recommendations for storage of 300GB (several small back-ups, less number of big backups or just clone the entire disk when I have a day to throw at it)
Thank you!

StevenG,

Often new users spend a bit of time tweaking their backup task settings. Unfortunately, they don't know they ATI is pretty fickle there. It is better to create a new task, with different name and destination, whenever you want to change the backup name, destination, scheme, or retention rules.

At this point:
- with Windows Explere move the TIB files want to keep to another directory on the same disk (to avoid a long file copy),
- within ATI, delete all your backup tasks,
- delete the remaining TIB files that you didn't intend to keep,
- Set up new backup tasks.

Don't use clone to do backups. Use a disk and partition backup, at least one with all the partitions on the disk that contains your system.

Best, most reliable storage for ATI is a big USB disk.
