MBR to GPT Windows 8
My apologies if this has been answered elsewhere.
I have windows 8 on a 3tb hard drive. Unfortunately, the drive is formatted as MDR. My goal is to format it to GPT and keep my current files. I have True Image 2013. I have tried to clone my primary disk with windows 8 onto my external 3tb hard drive formatted to both MDR and GPT formatting but True Image will not allow me to select my external drive for the clone.
How do I back up my information so it can work on a GPT drive? I recently upgraded my whole system and my motherboard is a Asus Maximus V Gene with UEFI BIOS. I can set up the back up on True Image but I am not sure if this is enough prior to erasing my hard drive. I know a bit about computers but if you can help me in layman's terms, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you, Pat. I have completed the back up of my disk to my USB drive. As for installation disks, no, I do not have any. I downloaded the software online.

You need to create a Windows 8 recovery CD. Search for "create a recovery drive".
After you have created it, boot your computer on it, make sure it is working. Let us know when you are there.

I'm using Win7 with the following problems below (I've to use GPT for at least 2 reasons: required by another OS and disk size 3TB):
1. Using TI Plus Pack 2013.
2. Clone MBR to GPT doesn't work
3. Backup MBR and manual restore to GPT partially works, means the restore will be performed as desired, but
the result is not bootable any more. Windows tells me about some boot loader issues. I don't have a separate
boot partition for Win7.
Doing step 3 with "Paragon's Back and Restore 2012 free" works like charme!
Any solution(s)?
