Migrating to new SSD
I have Acronis True Image 2014 Premium. I have a backup of my C drive which is only four days old. I currently have a 250GB SSD and have purchased a 500GB SSD to which I want to migrate my existing C: drive.
I formatted the new SSD and restored my system to this from the recent backup. This seemed to work fine, but when I booted from the new SSD Windows started, but I almost immediately got the blue screen of death.
Any suggestions?
Jim

Custiom build PC. Quad core Intel processor. Samsung 250GB SSD. Three Internal 3TB HHD. Running Windows 7 Home Premium.
The backup was taken as a scheduled event an has been verified. My new 500GB SSD is a Crucial M500. I put this in the machine and as it was not formatted installed Windows on it from my Windows installation disk. I then booted up from my Acronis recovery drive and restored to the SSD from my backup. When this finished successfully I rebooted from the SSD. Windows seemed to start normally at first, but almost immediately I got the blue screen.
I would point out that I have previously used Acronis backups to successfully restore my system to the original existing 250GB SSD

James,
I am still unclear, did you make a complete disk image or select the partition option instead?
Is this the OS drive or a data drive?
What is the BSOD text and error code (it is the 0xNN part that is important)?

Check the M500 firmware version and make sure it is the latest available. There have been other users whom obtained new M500 drives with outdated firmware that have experienced various BSOD issues.
