Mouse only moves up and down in the recovery environment

Thread needs solution

Hello All :)

Acronis TI 11 (8,101)
Windows 7 Professional

The problem started with the Sata drives not being recognised. This was cured by downloading the Safe Mode .iso and selecting that option from the boot menu of the recovery CD.

My next problem is slightly different to previous reported issues regarding USB mouse and keyboard problems... my keyboard works but no matter how I move my mouse, the cursor *only* ever goes up and down the screen vertically. Clicking a mouse button makes things worse as the cursor jumps to the right of the screen... no matter which button I click, the cursor moves to the right until it is no longer visible and I have to re-boot.

I've tried legacy USB option in BIOS, it is enabled. Disabling results in no mouse movement at all.
I've tried usbmouse=off which results in no mouse.

I realise that I'm running an older version of True Image and would be prepared to upgrade *IF* I knew upgrading will definitely solve the mouse problem but, looking at all the reported USB mouse/keyboard problems on the forum, I've yet to be convinced.

Has anyone seen and solved this bizarre up and down mouse movement in the recovery environment?

EDIT: Both the mouse and keyboard are wired, plugged directly into USB ports of the computer.

Davo,

TI v11 doesn't support Win 7. The first version to support Win 7 is ATI 2010.

- Create a backup of your current system.
- Uninstall ATI 11
- Install the trial version of ATI 2011
- Check it out. There are plenty of quirks, but the imaging/restore works great.

You can also try using the TAB key or the Shift-tab for reverse.

Hello all,

Thank you for posting and your help.

Davo, I will definitely assist you.

Have you tried this solution to resolve the vertical movement issue?

I will also follow-up with a private message and send you a download link for Acronis True Image 2011 Home bootable media so that you can test it. As a trial version it will be limited to recovery operations only.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
