Move 2014 to a new computer! Help!

Thread needs solution

I have purchased a new computer with windows 7 pro as the operating system and I wanted to move my 2014 program from  my old xp pro to my new computer.

I have deleted 2014 from the old computer and I have tried to install 2014 from a downloaded install program but the new installation just sits and gives me a LOADING message. It is locked up and I have to use the task manager to free up the locked up procedure.

I have tried thid several times with no success. I love the program to clone my one disk to another on the same machine and to clone to a remote hard drive for storage in a safe deposit box and I don't want to use the cloud. HELP! I am wasting important time.

Dennis, welcome to these user forums.

What version of Windows are you trying to install ATIH 2014 on?

See KB document: 44112: Acronis True Image 2014: Supported Operating Systems which shows that it is only supported with Windows 8.1 or earlier.

If you are installing on a supported version of Windows, then try downloading the latest ATIH 2014 installer from your Acronis account and then comparing the checksum for the download to ensure it matches the value given.  It is possible that you may have a corrupted installer.

Windows 7 pro is the operating system. I thought I did that but I will go back and download it again.

check sum? what is that?

thank you

Dennis, Windows 7 should be fine with ATIH 2014.

On the Acronis web site where you download the software installer from, you should see something like below for the ATIH 2014 installer - this is taken from my own account for an upgrade version of 2014 for the UK.

Latest Build: #6673 (Size: 272.43 MB2014-02-22 00:00:00
MD5: c7b51148ad8937c24e7297900704743d
How to calculate and verify MD5 checksum

Try the following link if you don't see this in your account (sign in with your ID and password)

Dennis, thanks for the PM advising that you have ATIH 2012 (not 2014).

I see the following from my Acronis account for 2012 Standard UK version.

Latest Build: #7133 (Size: 214.65 MB2012-07-12 00:00:00
MD5: 04112578f8ba3af5375179dcad9a472a

To get to this information, first go to http://www.acronis.com/ then click on My Account in the top right corner, this will prompt you to enter your registered email address and password, then should show you a listing of all your Products & Downloads, which is where I am seeing this information from my account.  This is not the same website as these forums.

Please note that Acronis have updated the way their website looks, go you will see a different view when going via the above link than the previous link I posted, but the checksum data is still shown after you click on Downloads and PC.

Screen shots are not working at the moment in the forums so see the following shared dropbox image link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ckfzq9za4e6ukbf/2016-09-20%2012_08_33-Acronis%20Account.png?dl=0
which shows how this looks on the new Acronis web pages.

I have deleted the download installation programs that I had previously downloaded and deleted the installed product on the new computer with Windows 7 Pro that wouldn't load completely and function.

I then deleted the working program on the old computer with Windows XP Pro so I didn't violate the license limitation of three instlations of "Acronis home 12".

I down loaded a new copy of the Acronis Home 12 installation program.

I verified the completeness of the down load with the checksum calculator, results were OK!

I reinstalled the program and the results were the same - - the message "Loading" but no results.

The program after hours had to be shutdown with my Task Manager.

Insanity is getting the same results with the same process but expecting somthing differant and I'm qualifing for the "Nut Hatch"

Is this designed to get me to buy the latest version?

If I do . . . can I use it to clone my hard drive to an external hard drive or a second internal hard drive and ignore the cloud?

Help!

Dennis, sorry to hear that you are still unable to get your ATIH 2012 to work correctly on your Windows 7 system - did you do the install by using 'Run as administrator' and are you running the program as Administrator when you try to launch it?

You could try right-clicking on the desktop icon for the Acronis program launcher, open the Properties then click on the Compatibility tab.  On this page, Click on the option to 'Change settings for all users', then in the new panel that opens, tick the option to 'Run this program as an administrator', then click on the OK button to exit from these settings, then try the launch again.

I have tried all of these I have evben changed the priority to high no efect I am helpless, frustrated, and getting angry at my helplessnes.

Dennis, can you create an Acronis System Report and post it to this forum post and I will take a look to see if there is anything else in the information to show why this problem is being such a pain?

See KB document: 23989: Acronis True Image Home 2012: Generating System Report for how to do this.

I use acronis to make a clone of my business/design records and I have waisted too much time now so I must give up.

I have customers waiting for me to slog through this and I can't impose on there patience any longer.

I bought 2017 and have invested 2 hours removing evedance of prior attempts to make Acronis work.

Thank you so much for your attempts to resolve my problems.

  Dennis

Dennis, sorry that we couldn't resolve this with you.  Hope that ATIH 2017 will work smoothly for you and let you concentrate on your business in future rather than trouble-shooting software issues.  All the best.  Steve
