Moving images

Thread needs solution

Hi I have Acronis 2014 and have a number of images as recovery backups on a hdd. I have run out of space on that hdd and wish to move/ copy these images to a larger hdd. Will this work? I.e. will the program still load the image even though the image has been moved from one hdd to another?

Thanks,

At this point, I am going to assume that you only want to keep the backups available for a restore, if needed, but it is NOT your plans to add additional incremental or differential type backup to the original tib base.

If the above is true, is the copy really necessary or can they old backup stay where they are and simply start new tasks and new backups directed to the new larger drive.

Before comment any further, let's get the answers to the above, first.

Hi thanks for the reply.
I am not doing incremental backup but I do wish to move them and add backups from my other systems and keep all the images on one disk. The disk I have is old and I don't want it to fail leaving me with nothing. Yes it is only for a restore if needed. Also thinking of moving them onto an SSD for speedy restore.

Thanks,

Ok. As you only want to have the files accessible for restore, you should be able to "copy" the files into a new single or multiple locations. Do use a good program to perform a quality copy. After the copy, it would be wise to do some TI validation on the copies to confirm still usable.

The originals, I would keep, If at all possible, but other disk would contain similar files.
I would not use a MOVE option as that puts the files at risk during the process.
