New install--can uninstall
Just downloaded 2013. Win7 64 machine has been running 2010. The installer stopped right off saying the existing needed to be uninstalled.
Here's what's weird--the OS does not show any Acronis product installed even though it is and ran just last night.
If I have to reinstall the current for the new to see it so it can then be uninstalled, I may just chuck this whole thing and return '13.
Anyone have a clue as to how my current install of Acronis could 'disappear' from the OS's bookkeeping? Or if Acronis can be uninstalled from within itself?

I am considering upgrading from ATI Home 2010 to 2013. Two questions: 1) Are full system backups made with ATI 2010 recoverable with 2013? And 2), I am running XP and the All Programs listing for Acronis does not show any un-install option. GroverH, in his recent post, suggested using the un-install option in the 2010 downloaded install program. I do not have a clue as to where to find my "install program" for ATI 2010! However, I do have the "Revo Un-Installer" -- will that be adequate?

2013 "should" be able to restore 2010 backups. The best restore or recovery method is to do the recovery from the bootable CD so you can always recover a 2010 backup by using the 2010 Recovery CD.
If using the purchased Revo pro version, it should be able to do the uninstall and may even offer the Acronis uninstall program first--which is its standard procedure. Certainly, if you used Revo pro and tracked the installation, Revo has that record. Revo pro also offers the forced uninstall and offers to search for residuals such as a search for Acronis. I do not know whether Revo free offers the search for leftovers option.
The 2010 download program can be downloaded from your personal Acronis account--same download location as the 2013 version. Don't forget that registration of your serials are needed in order for Acronis to store that info and provide downloads to you. Once you register a specific version, Acronis will always have that available for you.
Personally, I use the standard Acronis uninstall and then follow it with Revo Pro searching for left overs.
Very definitely, before upgrading, use the 2010 TI CD or the 2013 CD and make a full and complete backup of your system before you begin any uninstall or reinstall. YOur backup is your safety valve in the rare instance of things going--not according to expectations.

GroverH -- Thanks for your advice! 'Understand, if I needed to recover using a 2010 backup, I should use the 2010 bootable Recovery CD to do so. As for accessing the old 2010 download files (to use the Acronis 2010 un-installer), I checked My Acronis Account area and did not find any evidence of the download being available there. I have a "hard copy" record of my license/serial number, and I normally register all purchased software. 'guess I may have to rely on Revo to do the un-install. (I checked and, yes, the free version of Revo does include the option to search for leftovers -- several levels.)

why not try and input your 2010 license into the Acronis website registration window and see if it will be accepted into the Acronis database. It may show as already registered--if you used a different email address at the time. If you registered the serial under a different email address, you may need customer service help to get the license registered from one email account into your current email account.

GroverH -- Thanks for sticking with me on this! I went back to My Account and entered my 2010 serial number in the product registration area as you suggested. I t was accepted but, I still could not find any way to get a re-download of the old 2010 install file. So, I tried contacting Support (from My Account area). When I identified "ATI 2010" as the product I needed help with, the site came back with "2010 no longer supported" -- or words that effect.
This is getting a bit "off topic" (Re my thoughts of upgrading to 2013) but, while I was in My Account, I found a notice for "Latest Build for 2010": Bld #7160 Released 4Feb11. I checked the main page of the 2010 program under "Tools/Options" and find I have "Auto Updates" enabled. But I can find no evidence that this build was ever installed. Two questions: 1.) Can I install this build "on top" of my ATI 2010 -- i.e., no un-install required? 2.) The download info mentions doing an MD5 checksum verification of the download and, an "eXpress Checksum Calculator" available at the website www.irnis.net/spft/xcsc/. Is this still a "good" website (Google "could not find" it!)??

You can install the later build over the top of the earlier one.
The MD5 checksum is just to give you confidence that during the dowload no file corruption occurred. Any MD5 checker should be able to give you the correct result.
