New User testing product ATIH 2012 - I have questions
I don't find the customer support options very effective so I'll try the forum.
I am seeking a backup program and Acronis was suggested to me by a recovery company. I asked many questions and finally decided to just play with the download trial and I might get further. As a test I did a file backup and saw all my files had been backed up. However, I had the idea that because they are in a standard directory\sub directory structure I could take my backup drive to a machine where Acronis isn't loaded and do a simple drag-and-drop...no cigar!
Is there a way to do this with Acronis? If so I'll gladly buy the three-pop package. If not is there another program that can work for me?
So far I like the Acronis user interface but if it doesn't fulfill my needs I will have to move on.

Grover thanks for your input. I am basically looking for a drag-and-drop type of back up to not only back up but use as a transfer as well - very simple - just something that will do the drag-and-drop type of file transfer instead of me having to do it manually and will allow me to take the backuo drive and get a file from it to put on another machine.

b z - do you want "data" backup or hard drive (image of hard drive) backup? Acronis is really intended for backup of the entire hard drive. Having said that, you can also use Acronis to backup a data only drive as well, this I have not done mainly because all of my data drives are RAID arrays (for this I backup only portions (folders) on the data drives). I use Acronis to backup my Boot drive (SSD) and Microsoft Outlook. With my RAID arrays I (each are 3TB) have two RAID 1 arrays (thus my only exposure is that both drives will fail in a RAID 1, which is highly unlikely but possible), I also have a RAID 5 (6TB) which does create more risk for me because currently it is NOT backed up (the RAID card could die, multiple drives could fail) thus this data is at risk but I also use other tools to monitor my drive health (to help reduce the risk). Long term I will get a ReadyNAS to backup my RAID 5.
If you want data only I suggest you look at SyncBackPro or Beyond Compare. Along with Acronis I use SyncBackPro as well as Beyond Compare to solve all of my backup needs.
Possibly this will give you more information to help with your decision.

Based on that requirement, ATI will not work as it puts the backup in a proprietary container. You therefore need some Acronis tool (either the recovery CD or ATI installed in Windows on the computer you want to restore the files to).
If don't want to install ATI on the computer(s) you might transfer the backup files to, you have to choose some mirroring/sync software. Some software packages that do mirroring/synching of files allow for keeping of versions of files and deleted files. Some don't.
