No configuration file present
I know you've probably heard this before but...
I backed up my Vista 64 system to an external disk. Then I installed Windows 7. Wasn't overly impressed so I decided to restore system from my backup.
Installed TI-11 Home in Windows 7 and proceeded to restore from external disk. Program asked me to restart and I did. Got the famous Acronis Loader: No configuration file present error. Presses <Enter> to reboot and I kept getting the same error message.
Recovered OpSys (Vista 64) from original disks that came with computer. Restarted computer and guess what - still get same error message.
Cannot restart computer in any fashion without getting the configuration file error.
Please help, I need my computer back.

Also, make sure that the correct drive is the booting drive in the BIOS. If you did a full system restore, you shouldn't be getting any "Acronis Loader..." messages upon booting unless a different drive is trying to boot and it contains the loader.
If that doesn't help, boot to the Vista DVD (if you have a standard version) or the Windows 7 DVD and enter the Repair Mode. Start the Command Prompt and run the following command: bootrec /fixmbr
That will reset the MBR code on the booting drive back to standard.

Thank you for the help. Here's an update...
I have copies of the boot disk on USB drive, DVD and CD. I have attempted to boot into all of those media and my computer still gives me the error message. I have verified that no other storage is connected to my computer.
I'm using a Gateway LX6810-01 originally with Vista-64 installed. For some reason, the computer came configured with in a RAID configuration. I don't know why, but it appears the RAID array contains the HD and 2-DVDs.
Any more suggestions? I have verified that I used the 3 DVDs that I created when I first purchased my computer, I can't imagine why I'm still getting the error message when I reinstalled the original OPSYS.

Well, was finally able to get the computer to boot from the emergency disk. Started the recovery procedure and it says it's unable to find any hard drives. BIOS reports the internal disk is there, I know the external HD I backed up to is hooked up. Now Acronis TI-11 can't see the internal or external drives.
I think I'm screwed!
Anyone with a suggestion? Please?

I downoaded the trial version of TI-2009. The boot disk created by that version worked just fine.
I will be upgrading to that product REAL soon.

As for Acronis True Image 11 Home I would recommend you download ISO image from your account under Registered Products and create Acronis bootable disc using third-party software. ISO image is based on different loader which has more embedded drivers, it will certainly solve the issue you experience.

Hello there,
I am using TI 11 Home. After activating the Startup Recovery Manager (F11) I can not boot from the TI CD Rom. I get the message : No configuration file present. I downloaded the latest updates (Build 8.105) but the problem is the same. I want to replace my Drive C and did a Backup to the second Drive E. But I have no chance to do that if I can't boot from the TI CD Rom. What can I do to solve the problem ?

Hi- I've just installed True Image Home 2010 upgrade on a Win 7 64 bit machine. On reboot to complete the install process I got the black screen and "No configuration file present" message of death. While this was an upgrade I wasn't using the previous version of TrueImage to do my backups because I had some issues with it- so, I don't have a system restore CD.
Very unhappy to have this sort of major problem with a product which should be sufficiently evolved to work smoothly on mainstream platforms.
What should I do?

I encountered this message with Acronis OS Selector twice last month. I have a bootable thumbdrive to boot from and restore my MBR, so the situation was more of an inconvenience than a catastrophe. However, this happened twice in as many weeks without any provocation on my part. And on both occasions that I have encountered this problem, any number of reboots will not solve the problem. The only option seems to be to repair the MBR, boot into the first OS on your drive (thankfully the one with which OSS is installed initially) and repair OSS. While it may not be as big of a deal for me as for others, it is still a major annoyance. Obviously this is not supposed to happen so long as you don't mess with any files that the OSS needs. My question, then, is what could cause this to happen seemingly on it's own and how can I prevent this from happening again?
