No mouse support when booting to acronis trueimage 2013 from bootable media
Just installed Acronis TI 13. Made a bootable USB disk and booted into TI13 from it. Problem is I have no mouse support. If I press F10 I can control the mouse pointer with the keyboard but this is cumbersome. I have legacy USB support and all the other USB related parameters enabled in my UEFI BIOS. Any idea what is wrong and how to fix?
I have attached a system report made after booting off the USB disk media with the mouse plugged in.
Thanks for your help,
Mark Bond

What brand and model?
Does the mouse work at any point when booting from the recovery CD, such as on the load True Image menu but not once TIH 2013 has loaded?
Hi, Colin - I am experiencing this problem, too. I have a Logitech wireless MK700 keyboard and a Performance MX mouse.
The Acronis Recovery boot CD recognizes the mouse & keyboard at the initial menu, but once I select TIH 2013, the mouse & keyboard stop working as soon as TIH 2013 boots up.

Hi Colin.
My mouse is a wireless "Microsoft Explorer Mouse".
It works at the initial menu, but not after loading TIH. This was a problem in TIH 2012 as well.
New to TIH 2013, though, is NONE of my mice working when booting from the recovery image! In TIH 2012, it was just the Microsoft mouse that wouldn't work. I just had to plug in another mouse and I was good to go. Now, I have no mouse support at all!
For the most part, I can get away with only using a keyboard, but some menus/pages are clearly designed for mouse-only use. It's really quite frustrating.

FWIW I have the Logitech MK520 wireless kb & mouse and these work fine with 2013, as they did with 2012 and 2010 as well. What motherboards/BIOS are you using.

It took a LOT of work, but I was able to come up with a working Bootable TIH 2013 disk using the TIH 2013 Plus Pack to build a WinPE 3.0 based boot disk.
While the default WinPE boot disk created by the TIH 2013 Plus Pack supported my Logitech Wireless Mouse + Keyboard, it *didn't* support my network adapter on my Asus Sabertooth Z77 motherboard. So, I had to inject the Intel Pro 1000 82579V driver set for that into my WinPE image. After that, I found that I had to modify my WinPE image again to include a "net use" command during boot-up to map my network storage server to a drive letter, since the WinPE image didn't natively accept my login information to connect to my network storage.
Yeesh.
Hopefully, Acronis will get their stuff together, and get these wireless keyboards/mice properly recognized in the next TIH 2013 (and, earlier TIH versions?) update.
Cheers,
Alan

"It took a LOT of work..."
Alan I have never made a WinPE boot disk, having looked at the process and found it daunting at best, and wonder if there was a particular tutorial or help file or post here that you followed & found helpful?

tomf - I had to bounce around between 3 websites. Part of this was because I am running Win7x64, which installs WinPE 3.0 (Windows 7 - based), which has different commands than WinPE 2.x (which most sites show commands for). If you are running WinXP, you may need to go to other websites to get instructions.
If you are experiencing the same "No network" issue I did, you will need to look at your network adapter properties in the Device Manager. Copy down the chipset name and manufacturer listed under "Network Adapters". Do a right click on the adapter, and select "Properties". Select the "Details" tab, and then click on the drop-down box to select "Hardware Ids". This will show you your Vendor and Device Ids (It will look something like this: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1503&SUBSYS_849C1043&REV_04. The Vendor Id in this example is "8086" (Intel), and Device Id is "1503".
Scratch these down for later, you will need them.
I found these websites to be useful:
Intel Network Drivers: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/
WAIK Installation for Win7: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5753
Adding drivers to WinPE3.0: http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/2349-guide-adding-d…
Adding TIH 2013 to your WinPE image: http://kb.acronis.com/content/34318
When you go to your Network Adapter manufacturer's website, you will download the Win7 x86 (not x64) drivers for your device. Most installer EXE files are "zipped" these days. You will need to Unzip the installer file into a directory.
To make sure that you have selected the right drivers for your specific network adapter model, you will want to check all the *.inf files in the directory. One of the *.inf files should be for Win7/Vista x86, and have your Vendor Id and Device Id listed (in a "VEN_vvvv&DEV_dddd" format. If you don't find an INF file with this information, you will need to hunt again for your proper driver set.
Once you have your proper driver set unzipped, you can follow the procedure above for "Adding drivers to WinPE 3.0".
When you have added your custom drivers, follow the procedure for "Adding TIH 2013 to your WinPE image".
If you have the same problem I had with logging into a network share, you will want to take the bootable TIH 2013 CD and verify that you can connect to a mapped network share by typing the following in the WinPE Command Prompt (This may be hidden behind the TIH 2013 Recovery window): net use /user:{user name} w: \\{server name}\{server directory} *
If you can get to your network share by mapping it, you will probably want to modify the \windows\system32\startnet.cmd file by adding the "net use" command after the winpe initialization line in the startnet.cmd file. (Do this by remounting the TIH modified copy of your winpe.wim file, modifying startnet.cmd, then "commit"ing your changes to winpe.wim.
I wish it was simpler. :-(

Please check out forum.acronis.com/forum/17630 for MustangPE. Build a custom WinPE 4.0 with all the features discussed in this thread included. MustangPE is a simple to use GUI based application that boots into WinPE with a Windows like shell.

The sulution to the problem was for me to go to the properties of the virtual machine - system - pointing device (or alike).
Then I've changed from USB Tablet to PS/2 mouse - and it worked like a charm
