No network adapters listed from recovery disk

Thread needs solution

I'd like to be able to restore my laptop after installing Win 10 ...

So under Win 8.1, I made a recovery disk, which seems to work, and made a backup over my network.

Problem is, when I boot from the recovery disk, it doesn't show the network, where the backup image resides (on a synology server) ... and when I go to the network utility menu as suggested, it does not list either the network adapter OR the WiFi adapter ...

Is there some way to load these, or do I have to copy the backup to a portable drive and restore from there?

Thanks ..

Hi Michael,

There may be situations where default Linux-based media fails to detect some hardware (e.g. a network card as in your case) due to the limitation of Linux kernel (e.g. device drivers are proprietary and can't be included into the Linux kernel).

In these situations WinPE-based media is recommended: https://kb.acronis.com/content/48152 => you can also insert the network card drivers from the device vendor into it if needed.

Thx,
Alexander
