Non stop backup - 100GB or 100 file limit
Running XP Pro SP3, builds 6029 and 6053 will not allow me to turn on NSB because I get the error "Creating image of the protected partitions was interrupted" during the initial setup stage. This occurs at 91% which just happens to equate to 100GB which in turn equates to 100 data files in the Time Explorer Storage folder i.e. CDP.data thru CDP100.data
I've done enough testing now to convince myself that "100" is some magic number rather than a disk or file error that might cause NSB to fail at the same point each time.
For example:
- If I protect a smaller partition, NSB appears to work OK.
- If I initially protect less than 100GB but then increase the data on the protected partition beyond 100GB, then NSB turns itself off.
Build 5055 doesnt have this limit but instead gives me another problem where the PC randomly locks-up with no error message seemingly logged anywhere. It might take a day or two before the lockup. The lockups disappear if I disable NSB.
Fortunately, "normal" backups appear to be working for me on all three of the latest builds.

Is your timeline folder on a separate partition of your main drive, or a second drive or an external one?
Just wondering if there is not only a' magic number' but also a placement trigger.
How much free space does the drive have, perhaps there is a failsafe if TI thinks free disk space is getting low.

Its on an external eSata drive. The folder is on the first partition, Primary NTFS sized at 250GB. It is dedicated to NSB, so nothing else is using it.
There is a second partition on the drive now, but initially I tried with only one partition, giving NSB the whole disk, 1TB !
