Non-stop runs then stops
I have just upgrade to the latest version of True Image Home 2012 all works well except the Non-Stop
Non-stop runs and completes the full backup then stops. Previous versions ran in the background and watched for changes, this version doesn't. the Sys-Tray icon shows the small square indicating it has stopped. If I start it again, it runs to completion then just stops again.
No mater what I do it will complete then stop every time.
Suggestions???

Hi Shadowsports,
you say: NSB cannot be used on external disks???? Are you serious?? It has been succesfully working for me on an external USB Disk for month - all the backups are there and I can restore from them. But lately all new NSB back ups stop right after the start - I´m not quite shure whether this behaviour started after the last update but anyway - what can be done to get NSB back to work ??
regards, Michael

Hi Michael,
Thanks. This is a limitation in previous versions. I can see how this statement would be confusing. See page 47 of the User Guide.
There are two reasons why NSB will stop. The first occurs after NSB is started and after a full of the system partition or data is created. In this scenario changes to files are saved every 5 minutes for a 24hr period. Consolidation occurs nightly after the first 24hr interval has elapsed.
Second, if the data being protected is not a system partition and no changes have occurred the next back up is skipped. The program will then wait until a significant amount of data has changed before a new snapshot is taken. In this scenario, changes made to files must be physically saved to the protected disk in order for the data to be protected.
But lets get back to Kim's question. I asked that he review the section on how it works because it's possible that the behavior she is experiencing falls under the use case discussed in this section. Page 51 of the User Guide gives possible reasons why NSB does not continue to run can cannot be restarted.
High system load will cause NSB to stop and suspend temporarily. The service cannot be restarted by the user under certain conditions. After 1 hr. NSB will attempt to start again automatically. If high CPU or process load is detected, the NSB service will again suspend. The program will attempt to restart on its own up to 6 times at 1 hr intervals. It will not start again until the high CPU utilization is no longer present. If this condition applies, a user can reset the count by stopping and restarting the NSB service manually, or by performing a system restart. If a large amount of data is being changed, high CPU utilization can occur. An example of this could be something as simple as watching a You Tube video or performing a Skype video call, or any operation that is CPU intensive. Even NSB itself can cause high CPU utilization if it has to compare significant data changes to data previously backed up. Using exclusions can help to alleviate this behavior (or scenarios).
I'm also including a KB article on NSB
Hope this is helpful.
Thanks

Hi all
Thanks for all the input. By the way I'm a guy as in male not shemale. :-)
I had no problems in previous versions of True Image Home 2012 up till this new upgrade. I have looked at the section on P47-52 (nothing there that sheds any light) and the majority of the time the CPU usage is less than 10%, and anyway Non-stop did a complete backup after I deleted the original file, but after it did the complete backup it just stops and no matter what I do it will stop after I force a backup too after doing all the right things
Log File attached where it says it completed, and attached a image of the Icon in the Sys Tray showing it is off.
So I don't know what is happening as it use to work with my USB drives before this latest update.

Hi Kim,
the behaviour at my place is exactly the same as you describe: It worked flawless for month on an USB drive and now any NSB will stop a couple of seconds after it startet. I deleted TrueImage 12 (that´s another story though) and than installed the original older version from CD. Result: NSB started fine and did exactly one backup - and that´s it - no more NSB. CPU usage below 10% - actually nothing was done on the Laptop (Samsung Series7) while trying to back up. I did´n find any help in the manual either.
Standard "NO NSB" Backups work fine.

Same for me. NSB (delayed) starts on boot and then says "preparing for backup" and then stops. Attempts to restart using the sys tray icon also result in stoppage within a few seconds. This just started a week ago upon downloading one of the updates. Did a "repair" reinstall with 7119, same problem. I only backup data files and my processor is running below 10% when NSB stops. Regular backup is working fine.

Hi Acronis Support,
is anybody montitoring this list?? Three people have now reported that NSB backups are not working anymore since last update - do you bother at all??
I have bought this software because of NSB - and just when I run out of any free supporrt you launch an update that takes away that very feature.
I expect to get what I paid for - without having to bye the software again by paying support fees.

Michael, I have notified Acronis of this thread. As you know, this is not a support forum, and there is no service level agreement between you and Acronis here.

I restored NSB apparently by changing the backup file name.

John G.,
Can you explain?

Yes, please give us some details. And does "restored" mean, it´s working again?

FWIW I sent John a PM.

No I did not use any windows "restore" function, sorry for the confusion. Yes, it's working again. I believe what made it work was that I changed the "backup name" under NSB settings from what must have been a default name to a unique name.
I had setup TIH on a new computer, upgraded to 2012, got NSB going with my existing external HD, then along came 7119 as a download, and then that's when I believe it stopped working.
I would suggest anyone having this problem delete their NSB settings and start over.

Right. I guess the updating process messes up with an ongoing NSB backup. I have seen other users showing multiple NSB at the same time.
