Nonstop backup paused, wont restart

Thread needs solution

I have been using acronis 2011 nonstop backup for just over a month now no issues, has been working well. backing up to a large USB drive.
yesterday afternoon it paused and wont restart and i have no idea why. i havent done anything but use the computer like i normally do, nothing new installed, nothing uninstalled, no settings changed.
looking at the logs it gives error of "An error has occured while obtaining the location information" event code 0x01530001 and "the given uri is empty" event code 0x00260001
thats all it says and the icon in the task bar jsut sits there flashing on and off pissing me right off.
How do i fix this???
windows XP SP3

Hello Wozzz Mozzz!

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here. I understand your concern, and will be glad to assist you.

There were significant changes done to NSB technology, and we have made it more universal in regards to being stable in a large variety of different configurations. At the same time the developers have implemented some internal algorithms of protecting the data and system from overflowing - and Nonstop Backup may indeed stop sometimes.

Usually this happens when there is a lack of system kernel memory - which can't hold properly a large amount of data in it. To ensure the kernel memory is not overflown, Nonstop Backup detects when there is little free kernel memory left - and automatically pauses itself. Later it will make several re-attempt requests to restart automatically once the memory is freed.

So as long as the Nonstop Backup restarts automatically within an hour or two (depending on the memory), you really don't have to worry about this behavior - as it has been made especially to protect the system and ensure the most effective performance of Nonstop Backup. I can suggest you just to monitor the new version - and check if Nonstop Backup restarts automatically.
We also do not have any issues with crashes and BSODs reported, so we would appreciate a chance of investigating the issue.

So in case it doesn't restart automatically, then there might be some issue with the system configuration, and we can investigate it further with the developers. Please send us directly the below information:

1. Acronis System Report .

2. The information what drive exactly is protected via Nonstop Backup and where the changes are stored.

This will help us to investigate the issue and find an appropriate solution for it.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

well it started again, about 24 hours after it stopped, so had a day without backups. seems excessive, but who knows, its working again for the time being.

I have the same problem with scheduled backup. Every night at 11:00pm; I want to wake up computer; backup; turn off computer. This seems simple enough. Does Acronis have a fix?

Joseph,

If this is not working for you with ATI, use the Windows Task Scheduler to launch ATI. That might work better (I say "might" because I have had scheduler issues on Vista x64 in the past).
