Nonstop - how much space to backup?

Thread needs solution

Hi all

I bought True Image Home 2010 two days ago, mainly because I wanted to use the Nonstop backup feature

My disk c: is 750gb, and I thought that with compression, a 500gb disk to back up on would be large enough. However, I am getting the message "Cannot find acceptable partition to create storage. Click Change and select the partition manually" When I do this, all I am told is that there is insufficent space to backup to.

My c: drive has 700gb of data, and the drive I am trying to backup to has 466gb free.

Do I need a larger disk to backup to? If so, how large should it be? 1tb, or 2tb, maybe?

Thanks

Just to update....

You will need at least 1.5 times the space of the data you have on the drive you want to back up from, on the disk you are going to backup too. So - if you have a partition with 500GB of data you want to back up, you will need at least 750GB space on the disk you are backing up to.

"Nonstop" takes a "snapshot" of the amount of data on the partition you are copying from - and even if you try to exclude files from the backup, it still holds the original amount in the "snapshot." I tried to backup a partition with 700GB of data to a 500GB disk, by excluding 570GB of data (leaving 130GB to backup) - but it does not work.

A suggestion for a future release.
It would be great to be able to use Nonstop by selecting folders to include, rather than having to backup the whole partition, and try and exclude what you don't want.
