not backed up yet *but* ... successfully completed!
How can you explain this?
I'm using build 6696: new build, new bugs :-O
On top of that a sort of "duplicate" of this task has magically appeared:
This product is a nightmare...

"green banners are not updating correctly" ???
In the screenshot *everything* inside the green banner *is* correct *including the date (10 feb 2011) which is the actual date of my previous backup. What is not correct is the text "not backed up yet" and "Total: O byte"!
"The other thing you see is ATI having found a backup"...
Did you notice that the location is exactly the same that the other one (N:\Backups\Acronis\VolumeC) ? How can Acronis may have found *another* backup with the *same* location and .tib files that one it already has in his configuration? (and knowing that this folder is totally dedicated to ATI usage, no other files inside)
And now, apart of doing all the stuff you recommend (saving settings, cleaning up, uninstalling, re-installing), could you please explain to me what can I do in the future to prevent this kind of situation to happen again?
My backup task is a very simple task, manually scheduled: full volume backup, no diff nor incremental, keep 2 last versions.
I hardly imagine making simplest backup configuration. How can this become corrupted? What may have I done bad?
Since this is not the first time similar type of "corruption" happens, reinstalling again and again each time it happens is not a viable solution on the long term for me.
(I thought that le last build will improve reliability of the product, I'm very disapointed)

Gilles,
From my experience with 2011, the best thing is to avoid:
- editing the task after it has been set (in particular changing scheme, renaming, deleting incremental/differential versions, changing destination). It is safer to set up a new task in another directory with another name and naming scheme. I know that some changes appear to be tolerable (ie changing autocleanup parameters). Other changes don't seem to have any adverse effect (changing schedule, validation options, for example).
- moving, deleting, renaming backups files or versions from either ATI (see point above) or Windows explorer.
This is all based on my own experience and testing as a user.
These precautions will not avoid the green banners being out of sync upon backup or validation completion. For this, you should trust the log instead of the banners.
If you have a lot of tasks to set up again after an uninstall, you can use the Acronis Schedule Manager to clean up a particular task, but this is more convoluted.
