NSB recover time

Had 2010. NSB would stop working for no reason known to me BUT the icon in Win 7 system tray said still working. Only find out it stopped if I try to recover something. While working recovery was quick and easy.

Now have 2011. NSB has never stopped working (yet). But recovery is a different story. Trying to recover four files totaling about 350,000,000. Was at least ten minutes of hard drive churning before external hard drive shows signs of being accessed. Now, at close to fifteen minutes in, the progress bar in NSB recovery shows that nothing has been done.

Whoops! Just got message that recovery has started. That's fifteen minutes in.

What's the story?
