Number of differential versions wrong with Differential Backup

Thread needs solution

I have problems with the differential regular system backup onto my external hard drive.
The number of differentials are wrong as they are 8 or 3 instead of 5.
Its supposed to make a full version after 5 differential versions not 8 or 3.
The latest version External_HDD_full_b3_s1_v1-2.tib is a full version made after just 3 differential versions.
Why didn't it do a full backup after 5 differentials like I told it to in the backup settings?

Shane,

You have probably modified the retention rules in the course of the backup, or the ATI database is confused. If you modified the settings, the number of slices is reset at the date of the modification.
Let the task run until the next full backup and then it should catch up to your settings.
If you don't have space to let it run, delete the task and recreate a new one.

Shane,
In my own usage, I have found that it is better to use a different storage sub-folder for each backup task and not mix tasks into just one folder. You can still use your mybackups folder--just point each task to its own sub-folder. Avoid editing a task as the results might not be what you expect. My recommendations is that any time a task needs editing, dont't!. Create a new task instead pointing to a new sub-foder.

It is possible that the mixing of tasks caused the database to become corrupt. Acronis does not require a separate storage folder but many of us avoid any mixing--just to remove the possibility of a mishap.
