Old back-up versions are not deleted

Thread needs solution

Every day I make a full back-up (appr. 100 GB) of my C:\ to external E:\ of 2 TB. Since target space is limited to 2 TB I want to delete back-up versions older than days. Although I programmed this it is not been executed by the program. What can I do?

Just a suggestion, but you could try setting a limit to the number of backups instead of the age. File number seems to work a bit more reliably.

Short of that workaround, you could try deleting and creating a new task -- save you backups to a new location first. Sometimes a task has to start from scratch to keep track of where it is.

Also, have you looked at whether you ahve marked the box about keeping the first backup?

In addition to Scott's points, note that ATI is not very good at reflecting changes in backup retention rules.

In general, when you want to change settings like retention rules, backup name, scheme, or destination, you are better offer creating a new backup task.
