One backup with a different validation schedule

Thread needs solution

How can I schedule a back up of an entire disk (disk mode) nightly - but only have validation to weekly?

Been awhile since I used 2014 so can't remember, but dont' think it's possible.  Validations run with the backup job.  However, the screenshots do suggest it might be possible to validate monthly, or may allow you to change monthly to weekly... you'll have to test to confirm (look at the setting just below the highlighted green box). http://kb.acronis.com/system/files/content/2014/01/46325/validate_when_created.png

Personally, I don't use validation.  I test my backup by accessing the content in it.  If you can double click a backup .tib and view it in Explorer or right click the .tib and "mount" it and view it - it's good to go.  Otherwise, just validate manually when you have time.

Just curious, but you've posted several questions in succession in the older version forums?  If you're new to Acronis, I would start by upgrading to a current version of the product.  2014 and 2017 are vastly different in appearance and functionality though, so if you are used to Acronis 2014 (although it doesn't sound like you are), it might take a little time to get used to.  I'd go with something current and that has support - at least give the trial of 2017 a spin before you commit and there's a 30 day return policy (no questions asked) if you do purchase and still decide it isn't for you.

Click on the option for Validation shown in the screen shot and a Schedule panel will open offering choices of when to do the validation by schedule.

Thank you Steve (again!) and Bobbo!

I looked at 2017 and don't see any signficant improvements in features that would warrant $30 to upgrade, honestly.

Possible reasons to consider 2017:

UEFI/GPT support for modern hardware...

NVME PCIE hard drive support...

32/64 bit winpe rescue media support - and an added value of the MVPWinPE builder which works with 2016 and 2017...

Compatibility with Windows 10 moving forward...

2 years of technical support from Acronis and minor release updates (if you go with th perpetual / standard license)....

an upgrade for a single license is $17.99 right now - pretty cheap for current software.  http://www.acronis.com/en-us/personal/upgrade-backup/

To each their own though - use what works best for you.
