Online backup running ~hourly even though its scheduled for 1x per day

Thread needs solution

I have a question about the behavior of Online Backup in the Backup & Security 2010 product.

First some brief background --

I've recently subscribed to the Aconis Backup & Security 2010 product. Upon installing it on the first computer I setup TIH 2010 to have Nonstop Backup of my hard disk. This seems to be working fine. I have a dialy backup every five minutes and nightly they are getting condensed into single day versions. That is great.

I also setup Online Backup to backup the "data" files on this machine (i.e., not the entire disk). For a schedule I set it up to run this task Daily at 1:45am ("Every Day"). I DID NOT check the "Run the task every X hours..." option.

Here's my question --

If I look in the Event Log in TIH 2010 it shows me the Online Backup running today at 1:45am as I requested. It also shows it ran at 2:00am, 2:52am, 3:43am, 4:37am, 5:31am, 6:32am, 7:29am, ...

Some of these runs failed due to errors, but more are successful. If I go to Restore, it shows me a "version" of a file (my email) has been saved for each successful run.

I really only want to run this Online backup once per day. I thought this is what I scheduled, but it appears to be running approximately hourly. Why is this? Did I do something wrong in the schedule or is this expected behavior.

I don't really care if it runs hourly, except that I wanted to keep 30 days worth of online versions, and now it is keeping only about one days (1 per hour x 24 = 24 versions per DAY).

Any insight that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Regards.

Hello MAarons,

Let me shed some light on the issue.

Most likely the issue is caused by the malfunction of Acronis Scheduler module which is used to handle all tasks. To fix the issue, you need to delete all tasks and update this module the following way:

  1. Download the latest build of Acronis Scheduler;
  2. Run the downloaded file. It will automatically update the service;
  3. Reboot the machine;
  4. Recreate the scheduled tasks.

Please reply to this thread if the issue still persists, I'll be glad to assist you further.

Thank you.
