"Operation Failed" Incomplete Logs. Failure Not Mentioned
Testing the home version. Set up an unscheduled task.
Ran it the first time for full bu. "The operation failed" error appeared but the log is incomplete
Ran it the second time for incremental bu."The operation failed" error appeared but the log is incomplete
Ran it the third time for incremental bu."The operation failed" error appeared but the log is incomplete
The calendar widget showing the event is green, not red (hah! bet it is looking for an error, rather than an "all clear" and so assumes it went fine).
1) All the bu are around 20GB, way too small to be done
2) External drive, 2 TB, formerly a mybook, but erased. USB
3) Windows 7 Ultimate
4) here is the entire log (no close tag for LOG. All are identical except for the time).File also attached:

Drivers updated yesterday, still no joy. Updated support with those details and awaiting a reply.
Anyone have any solid alternatives to Acronis?

OK. I've decided, based on my interactions with customer service to uninstall Acronis and move on. I'm sure it works for 99% of folks, and I would normally be willing to help out and troubleshoot this issue with them, but their last response tells me that I might be better off dealing with my grandmother.
1) They finally got (or claimed to have finally received) The images files referenced above in this thread (that along with the Acronis info dump). However, png files, generally usable in any browser, "does not open on our systems" (I sent the images and zip file with every communique).
2) I should resend the screen shots in MS PAINT [emphasis theirs] format (Oh, what is that exactly? Perhaps he meant I should send them a TIFF or BMP if I can attach it to a mail). How about a jpg so we can get somewhere. They also suggested that I could send the pics in MS WORD [emphasis theirs] format.... (how about we insert the images instead?)
3) I should tell them what OS I am using. Wait I told you that it was Windows 7 already! And guess what, PNG is one of the outputs for Paint on Windows 7! So, I already sent them in MS PAINT format by their own generalization.
4) Asked that I please send the acronis info dump files (wait, you got the PNG files, but not the zip file that went with them?)
Sorry, I've heard terrific things about the software, but the outsourced support is amateur hour and I'd rather not deal.
edit: and now it wont uninstall... but I see there are other threads for that, plus I have access to my own cleaners and I see that acronis at least mentions one for their software.... Sometimes, you just get the short stick.

OK. Just as an FYI. And the only reason I bother to post is because customer support wont leave me alone!!! LOL!
I also wonder if anybody at corporate reads these threads? I get the feeling that support's keystone cop antics are in response to some corp HQ prodding about how bad they are looking on a support issue they accidentally came across, yet the more they try, the worse they look.
I have told them that the product is uninstalled two or three times now (there have been emails since my post above where they still asked for info), yet they keep on asking for stuff. Now they want a telephone number and remote access to my system. Excuse me? To troubleshoot what exactly? The dang product aint there anymore. And on top of it, I don't trust their technical ability enough. They would probably edit my registry and leave me with trashed system.
1) Their reading comprehension is either poorer than a third grader's or they are intentionally thick. They ignore everything you mention in an email and stick to some weird script it seems.
2) Their technical competence is severely in question (maybe not all, just who I am interacting with??? LOL).
Anyway, wonder if they will email me again when I ignore this latest email? My last one told them to go away, but since they don't read 'em they never got the message.
On the other hand, perhaps there is some automated trouble ticket system, and since they can't close it as resolved they are hoping they it can expire it over time? They just respond every time there is an email from the customer since their stats demand it, whether the content is helpful or not in the hopes that the user will give up in frustration and the ticket will expire cleanly for them. I bet that's it.....
