Partition backup with Acronis True Image 2014 fails with 'Not enough memory (0x70002)
Unexpectedly a full backup of a disk partition of 110 GB failed. Even after increasing space to 100 GB to store the backup (with maximum compression).
This partition has been created from a True Image backup and was increased in size with GParted. It contains Windows which operates normally. The backup error occurs both with standalone backup or by performing backup from Windows on other partition.
The Acronis Knowledge Base doesn't provide an answer.
Log reads:
Event details: Operation with partition '3-0' was terminated.

Hi Steve,
chkdsk /f does not find errors on the partition (on SSD). Also no errors on the partition where I want to store the imagebackup.
Setting backup splitting size on 26 GB does not help either.
I have attached the log file from previous attempt. My attempt today looks the same.
What else can I try?

Gerard, thank you for the zipped log files which again just confirm your updates in this topic.
18/12/2019 19:41:12; message=Operation with partition '3-0' was terminated. Details: Not enough memory (0x70002)
Are you able to identify what partition 3-0 is for this backup and what data it contains?
After searching around, I found an old ATI 2014 forum topic: Disc backup fails Not enough memory (0x70002) - which looks to describe the same issue and which seems to only affect ATI 2014.
From reading as much as possible in the above topic without falling asleep! It does not look like there was ever a fix for the issue as ATI 2015 was available and didn't show the same error!
The options here look to be either excluding partition 3-0 from the backup if using ATI 2014 or else upgrading to a later version of ATI that does not have this issue.

See attached picture: I want to make an image backup of the first (shaded) partition of 110 GB on schijf 0. That partition contains Windows 7. I want to store the image backup in partition E:
So excluding the partition is not an option :(

Gerard, can you create an Acronis System Report on this system then extract the disks.txt file from the zip file it makes and attach it here?

Gerard, there is a filesystem issue with your first 110GB partition shown in the disks.txt report.

The FS (File System) shows as NONE when it should show as NTFS, and there is no value shown for the size of Free spage on this partition where it should show similar to the other partitions with a value of xxG. Finally, there should be no E's shown in the ABCHSV column.
You can see some of these differences when looking at your other 2 disk drives in the report.

Actually the applicable partition is hidden now to prevent 2 Window-installations to interfere.
Later on I will create a report when the to-be-backed-up partition is active (and the current one is hidden). That will provide you with more useful information I assume.

As far as I understand, having the partition hidden should not cause the information shown to be incorrect as it is. I have another laptop with 2 copies of Windows 10 alongside Ubuntu which I will collect a disks report from and post to show how that looks for me.

Disk report from my multiboot laptop:

All partitions show correct FS names (FAT16, NTFS, Ext4 or LSwap) along with the type of partition below that (Extended / Logical EPT / LPT), plus valid sizes including free space with the single exception of the Linux swap partition which only shows total size.
My own Windows partitions are not hidden from each other and haven't caused any issues for me, thus show as using drive letters C&D (CD / DC) depending on which one is active.

I want to use a single image to create both Windows-installations. That is one of the reasons I hide one of them so each of them get driveletter C:.
I attached the disks.txt file created when the partion_to-be-backed-up (SYS) was active and the other partition (UseSys) was hidden.
The properties of both Windows partitions look symetric.
Note that I created UseSys (the hidden one in this new report) by restoring an image backup and at the same time increasing the partition size by True Image.
When I restored an image backup to create Sys it was not possible to increase the partition size with True Image (possibly because True Image restored it sector by sector) so I increased it afterwards.

Gerard, both my Windows partitions (& Ubuntu) automatically are given drive C: when they are active.
Out of interest, can you test creating individual backups of each of your partitions on this disk 0 drive, i.e. check that each backup of the different Windows installation runs without giving the memory error, and also that the backup of the Windows Recovery 12GB partition is successful.
This will help prove if either of the Windows 110GB partitions are causing this error, or if it is the smaller Windows RE partition?

I am not backing up the whole disk, only partition Sys. That (new) partition has not been backup up before. Also it is the first time ever I get this error.
I think I might upgrade to the newest True Image version.
