prior to installing ATI 13, do I need to uninstall ATI 11 Home?
The pdf file user guide for 13 mentioned in the sticky says, "If you already have Acronis True Image Home installed, the new version will simply update it; there is no need to remove the old version and reinstall the software."
But, the KB article "34861" says older versions such as my 11 Home should be uninstalled first.
So, which is it? I'd prefer to NOT uninstall the old version. It would be nice if I didn't have to- then the install for 13 could find the serial number (in the registry?) then proceed to finish the install.

When I upgraded from my original ATIH2010 in Nov2011 I had problems I associated with the 2012 upgrade so I stopped using ATIH. Early Nov 2012 I purchased online from Cleverbridge a new 2013 version but cannot get past a sticking point which after following the Installation Instructions gets me to 'Run' then Install and a message appears telling me to "uninstall ATIH (version 10.0.4942)" and then try again. I've gone round in circles for two days trying to delete old files but to no avail.
Same message, same frustrations. Please advise.

1. Use the Acronis True Image 2013 bootable Recovery Media (Rescue Media) to make a full disk mode backup.
2. Turn off or disable Startup Recovery Manager or Secure Zone, if you had them.
3. Uninstall 2010.
4. Run Acronis True Image Cleanup Utility for 2011-2013: http://kb.acronis.com/content/34876
Be careful to follow all instructions, including not allowing the utility to reboot until you've made the Registry edits.
5. Reboot
6. Install 2013.

I believe the last build of TIH 2010 is 7160, so by v10 I'm assuming we are talking True Image 10, I'm not sure how well the 20xx series cleaner utility works with True Image versions 7 - 11. If Tuttles suggestion doesn't solve the problem, I would suggest one further thing to try before hunting down the install entry for TIH 10 in registry, which would be to start the 2013 installer and right click on the install option and select 'Extract'. This will extract the actual MSI installer fo 2013 which doesn't perform the same checks as the Acronis wrapper does. See if the extracted installer will work for you.
If this all fails, posting the MSI log file for 2013 might be of help, remove your serial number and email address from the log file if they appear. The log file is a plain text file, it will probably be lurking in your 'user\temp' folder.
