Problem with Acronis True Image 2014 on LAN
Hello
I'm using acronis true image 2014 to make backup via my local LAN on a server / media server ( also in LAN ).
When i start making a backup on my laptop and at the same time try to connect to a shared disk with my iconbit media player in the living room it cannot connect.
i have the same problem with my tablet.
at first i thoughed that acronis was claiming the NIC on the server, but after installing a secondary NIC i still got the same problem.
first NIC: Dedicated to LAN only for acronis.
Secondary NIC: Dedicated to LAN & Internet for streaming to Media player.
is there any knowledge on how to solve this problem or is anyone else have the same problem?
Kind Regards,
Robert-Jan

I got the same problem: backup to a network share (\\dimension\backup) is not possible.
If I make a small test backup locally, that works fine.
If I copy that test.tib manually to the network share, that works fine too.
However I try to make the same test backup to the network share directly (same setup, only target is changed to \\dimension\backup) it does NOT work!
(Firewall is switched off during trial, just to make sure)
The errorlog says "Toegang tot het opgegeven bestand geweigerd: \\?\UNC\Dimension\backup\TEST_full_b2_s1_v1.tib." (Access to the specified file denied)
The network path looks strange to me: shouldn't this be "\\Dimension\backup\TEST_full_b2_s1_v1.tib." ???
I think the "?\UNC\" part doesn't belong there.
Could be a bug.

When you enter the destination, do you test the connection after entering the credentials for that share?

Hi Pat, thanks for helping!
If I remember well, ATI once gave me a dialog popup for entering user credentials. I entered the administrator credentials, but this didn't solve the problem.
Anyhow the backup share is in the public user tree and security settings show that "everybody" has full control

In the destination field for the backup instead of browsing for the share type in path (\\dimension\backup) manually then hit the enter key. This should bring up the credentials box. The credentials you need to enter are those which you have set for your network not for Windows. Enter those credentials and click OK.

As far as I know there are no network credentials. If I pressed the "test" button in the credentials box everything was reported OK, although it didn't work.
This seems to solve the problem: I went to the backup directory > properties > tab: sharing > advanced > permissions > everybody: select full control.
Finally press OK several times to confirm. Now the directory is accessible for ATI2014 and anybody else (which is what we want).

Yep, that was going to be my next suggestion. Permissions need to be set to full control for TI to operate correctly.
