Problem with daily new backups -- I think
I may not know what I am talking about, but here is what I think happened to me.
Observation and Worry:
After my external source drive failed I see that I have only one of the 7 daily backups still available for restore (I typically had 7, one for each day of the week). I wonder if TI started the new backups by deleting the old one for that day and because it could not backup the failed external drive, I got nothing done except the removal of a good backup. Is that correct?
Background:
I have TI Home 2009 on a Dell M65 notebook that backs up the C Drive with about 47 GB and an external drive with about 20 GB (I think) to a Western Digital Dual-drive Storage System with Mirroring.
When I first installed TI Home 2009 I tried but could not get TI to finish backing up each night and finish by the morning. I tried several set ups and nothing worked. So I gave up trying to backup as recommended by TI (the incremental way). Instead I scheduled a new complete backup each day. And each day in just 90 minutes I had a new complete backup of everything.
I checked the backups periodically and I think I always had seven backups, one for each day. About a week after the external drive failed, I thought I would look at TI and it seems I have only 1 backup file for restoration, not seven. I looked at the logs for the intervening days, and it seemed to me that TI was starting, but not backing up anything, even from the C drive, while the external drive was failed.
I thought I would pass this observation along so some smart folks might set me straight on what's going on.
Thanks for any thoughts and advice.

Here is my Original Question:
- Observation and Worry: After my external source drive failed I see that I have only one of the 7 daily backups still available for restore (I typically had 7, one for each day of the week). I wonder if TI started the new backups by deleting the old one for that day and because it could not backup the failed external drive, I got nothing done except the removal of a good backup. Is that correct?
UPDATE:
After I posted CURRENT POST ADDITIONS, I discovered the following:
In "Manage and Restore" only 1 backup is listed under "Images." That's what caused my concern. However when I press "Browse my backup" I see that there are files for seven backup files -- the last seven daily backups.
NEW QUESTION: So, can I use any of those files even though only THE MOST RECENT one the files is listed in main "Manage and Restore" only 1 backup is listed under "Images"?
CURRENT POST ADDITIONS:
I received a good response (Reply #1 in this thread) asking some more questions about my set up. Here are the answers to the questions. An error log is also attached to this reply.
TASK/SCHEDULE I AM USING: I have 7 scheduled tasks a week. Each scheduled task creates a new backup archive on one day of the week. The first back up makes a new backup archive on Sunday, the second on Monday, etc. The backups are scheduled to run on their day of the week. The Sunday backup is scheduled to run each Sunday, etc.
BACKUP METHOD: Full — Overwrites existing backup.
AUTOMATIC RUN: The schedule is set to run automatically.
CONSOLIDATION: The word "consolidation" does not appear in any of the Backup Wizard Screens for my backups as I review my scheduled tasks in the Edit mode for my backups. If I need to look in another place, please tell me where it is.
BACKUP LOCATION: The backup location for each backup is an external Western Digital Dual-drive Storage System with Mirroring (1TB). The path for each day is different. The path for the Tuesday backup, for example, G:\My Computer Backups\MyBackuptues.tib
G drive is the Western Digital Dual-drive Storage System with Mirroring (1TB).
BACKUP SOURCE: The Backup Source is my internal C Drive with about 50 GB in data and an external drive with about 20 GB of data (the drive itself is 160 GB max).
LOG ATTACHED: An example of the error logs is attached.
Thank you very much for any advice on this matter.
