Problem installing backup

Thread needs solution

I am trying to eliminate both my IDE drives (HDD, DVD). I ran into all kinds of problems when I install my C drive backup on an empty 80 g HDD. I used an image back up from Acronis trueimage 11.8053.

Acronis will not work if my LG blu-ray burner is plugged in. It runs slow and stalls at looking for the archive backup. I noticed the drive light was flashing on as if it was in use so I unplugged it and now it works.

The weird stuff is after in stalling the backup windows will not boot it will start and get to a point where it’s preparing the desktop and turn to a light blue windows screen (not a blue screen of death) and stays there I cam ctrl/alt/delete and restart the computer.

When I plug the IDE cable back in to the mobo it boots fine. The OS should not need this drive. I can clearly see windows is on the 80g partition.

I’ll post more info as required

Thanks

William,

True Image 11 came out in 2007/2008 so I doubt it understands Blu-ray burners.

I don't quite follow your second problem, are you saying that just connecting one end of the IDE cable into the MB makes everything work, or do you actually have the external drive attached to it?

What OS are you running?
