Problem with Pre and Post operation options — Windows don't display

Thread needs solution

Because Acronis doesn't provide a notification option to display a local on-screen message when a backup or restore finishes, I wrote my own little program that simply displays a standard Windows message box with just an OK button to tell me the backup or restore operation is complete.

In True Image I set it up to run at the end of my backup tasks, not to wait for the program to finish, and to ignore any return values from the program.

This worked great ever since I wrote it back in 2007 or 2008, but in True Image 2012 or in one of its updates, it quit working. The program runs, I can hear the sound the message box makes, but the message box doesn't show or is hidden, so unless I'm within earshot of the computer to hear the sound I'll never know until I look for the tray icon that it is done. Plus because the message box is hidden, the program is stuck in memory because there's no way to click the OK button to dismiss it.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Gene,

I am guessing it is because the processes are not run with the same windows account or privileges.

What about using Windows Task Scheduler to run the tasks, including the ATI Task? To identify the ATI task to put in Windows scheduler, you can create a shortcut of your backup task on your desktop and then examin the properties of that new shortcut. It will give you the complete command line to put in your series of tasks.

I am not using any scheduling. This is my home system so I only do a backup once a week so I just start it manually.

I don't think it has anything to do with account privileges because it has always worked before and the only real change has been a new version of True Image.
