Product hangs after creating a new backup or editing an existing one

If I create a new file backup, when I press "Backup now" to close the Edit Backup Settings form, the system hangs. Closing the program leaves a process running in task manager that then needs to be killed (or the system restarted). The new file backup does not get created. A similar thing happens if I do Edit settings on an existing backup - the system hangs when I close the form.

If you can tell me which processes to look at I can attach a system dump etc.

Try this as a workaround.
When creating a new task, use the final "backup later" option rather than "backup now". After a small delay and the task appear in the main window, then click on the "Backup now" option in upper right corner of the specific task.

As you will read in the next link, editing of tasks is discouraged by most of the users responding on the forum. Best results obtained by creating a final task with all the correct settings and then no future edits. I agree not editing can be a pain but it seems to get better or quicker results.
