Purchasing 2012 version...

Thread needs solution

Hello everyone.
I'm thinking of purchasing the 2012 version, however I intend to upgrade to Win 8 when its released in October. The question is whether I will be able to use the 2013 version of ATIH when its out of the current beta without paying for the upgrade. In other words, would I qualify for a free upgrade? As far as I can see even the trial version of ATIH 2012 cannot be installed in the consumer preview of Win 8.
Thanks in advance!

Greetings,
If memory serves, there is a small window of grace period offered to those who purchase the last release on the "cusp" of a new version release. I want to say it's 15 or 30 days, but I don't know for sure. I might be incorrect.

If you purchase v12, you won't get 2013 for free unless you fall within this timeframe. If one exists.

I'll forward your question to the forum team to get an official answer.

Thanks, I'll await the official reply.

I think it'd be foolish of Acronis not to create a special version of 2012 which installs in Win 8. Keeping Win 8 compatibility as a 2013 exclusive is going to create a backlash when some customers upgrade to it in October.

Lucky,

The official 2013 upgrade policy has not been defined yet. However, management did indicate they expect it to be similar to 2012.

I agree having an upgrade path that supports windows 8 would be helpful.  We will have to wait and see what they decide on.

On Aug 7th I received an email from Acronis stating they were running a sale on ATIH 2012. It was buy one get one free for full editions. Also stated, was that if purchased during this promotion (ending Aug 22) that the upgrade to 2013 would be at no charge. I have requested more clarification but have not been able to get any. Past experience has shown that only purchases of the Full product are eligible for free upgrades if purchased within 30 days before the actual release of the next version.
As far as using the 2013 beta product serial numbers on an indefinite basis for free, I would think that Acronis will blacklist the beta serial numbers after some time.
I hope Acronis offers some deep discounts to those users that wish to migrate to Windows 8.

Thanks for the update, shadowsports. I think Acronis should release an update for ATIH 2012 which would make it compatible with win 8. Or at least promise to support 2012 in win 8.
