question about the backup-archives

Thread needs solution

Hey guys,

have a question about the backup-archives of Acronis True Image Home 2010.
While making a volume-backup, acronis splits these Image-File into smaller image-files when they reach a specific file-size.
So now i what i wanted to ask is, wether its possible to create just one big backup-image-file instead of an huge amout of small ones.

Thanks for answering

Sure. You can make a single large file, provided that the target disk is formatted so that the file system can put large files there. IF the drive is formatted as FAT, then by default ATI will automatically obey the filesize limits (4GB) of that older format and break a backup file into pieces accordingly.

Also, you can manually specify that a backup should be broken up into specific sized pieces -- some folks do this so they can later copy the backup onto CDs.

If your target disk is formatted NTFS, then ATI won't automatically break up a backup into FAT sized pieces.
