Reboot Requires Backup Schedule Reset

Thread needs solution

I have two backups scheduled ... a daily online backup and a weekly backup to a NAS. Every time my system reboots, I have to turn the two schedules back on. Acronis remembers the last date and time for the two backups but the schedules are turned *off* when my system resumes after a reboot. How do I set the schedules so that they're always *on* and I don't have to reset them after a reboot?

Robert,

Let's first try to uninstall, reboot and reinstall ATI. Recreate your backup tasks. Does this solve the problem? Remember to install as an admin, and hopefully you are installing from the same user account that you use to backup.

You're joking, right? Before I go to all that trouble, I'm gonna need assurance that it will all work. Otherwise, I'll just live with it until something better comes along.

You do realize that these are user forums, do you? That we are all unpaid volunteers, offering to help users on our own time? Even those with an ungrateful attitude?

I'm not ungrateful. I appreciate the time and effort that you all put into this. I just can't warm up to the idea that I have to uninstall, reboot and then reinstall an entire product package just to solve one tiny little problem. That's like asking me to change all four tires plus get an oil change as well as brakes, transmission and a new muffler when all I need fixed is a windshield wiper. If someone can give me a good solid indication that a reinstall will work, then I'll try it but I'm not about to do all that on a "hunch".

Uninstalling and reinstalling isn't that big a deal, and doesn't take long. Metaphors aside, you have to decide if you want our help. Pat recommended what he thinks will work. Based on your description, something odd is occurring which is not common, and reinstallation may be the best way to deal with it. We cannot guarantee that something will work, as every system is different and we cannot know what you have on your system that might interfere with good running.

If you prefer to find another course of action from some other source, that's your choice.

You may not think uninstalling and reinstalling is that big a deal but it is for me. I have about a dozen different backup jobs set up for all kinds of various devices and situations. If I uninstall the product, all those setups go poof. I don't want to have to go "thermonuclear" on this unless I have a good idea it's gonna work.

Your tasks are already not working properly. It's generally not possible to repair tasks anyway, so you'd have to delete them and create new ones.

We've told you what we think. How you proceed is up to you.

If you want to try an install repair before that, you have nothing to lose. But, as with preparing for any major changes to your system, make a full disk backup first.

Robert,

It looks like the scheduler is having trouble updating or saving your settings. Unless there is some obscure access right issue (hence installing as an admin, or making sure there is no installer\user account issue), or overprotective security software, it is probably an installation issue.

You can try something else. Download the schedule manager here and follow the instructions to reinstall the service.

If that doesn't fix it, you can export your backup settings (in tools and utilities), uninstall, reboot, reinstall, import your backup settings.

If that doesn't fix it, you'll have to try the thermonuclear option.

Uninstalling/reinstalling in a clean boot environment will help avoid possible conflict with other software (security software in particular).
