Recovering file from .tib file - Drilling down

Thread needs solution

I have True Image home 11.0.

In the past I was able to click on a saved .tib image and drill down into that image to the directory that contained the item(file) I wanted to restore, right click it, select restore and it would be done.

Now trying to open a .tib image does nothing!! What's the deal?

What happened??

Anyone got a clue?

Was it removed in an update... what?

Incidently, I downloaded a trial of the current version... it acts the same!

Thanks,
Alex

It must be something that changed on your system, especially if it worked before. Using Windows Explorer to explore a .tib file works fine here with ver 2010 build 5055.

Hello Alex and DwnNDrty.

Let me assist you with this situation.

Most probable cause is that Backup Archive Explorer (the component which is responsible for exploring archives) is not functioning correctly. So I would recommend you to check for the following:

1. Run Device Manager and check Acronis Backup Archive Explorer:

Right click on it and try Disabling and Enabling it back.

Run regedit and find the following registry keys:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\AcronisTimounterMonitor
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\timounter
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\tifsfilter

If all components can be found in your PC, let's perform the product reinstallation (which should correctly reinstall the whole Explorer module):

1. Use Acronis Clean up to uninstall Acronis True Image Home 2010. NOTE: for the previous version, please use another Clean UP program as it's described in this article.

2. Reinstall the product from scratch.

I'd like to make sure all your queries regarding Acronis products are resolved.
Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

Thank you.
