recovery no longer recognizes drive e:\

Thread needs solution

I was in the process of restoring drive c:\ from backup external drive e:\. The recovery was interrupted by inadvertently touching a key. Upon restarting the recovery, it no longer recognizes or displays e:\

Did you restore from the CD?

When you say you don't see e:\ any longer, is it from the CD or from the preboot environment?

Sounds like it might be just a drive letter issue. I assume you can boot in windows and Disk Manager shows all your dirrves, yes?

Are you using a boot CD to do your restore? Have you named your volumes? using the bootCD you might find that the drive letter assignments are not what you might expect and you shouldn't use the drive letter as the indicatior of which volume is which-- use the dirve model or the volume name. You couldn't do that with some of the odler versions of ATI but it works well with ATI2011 bootCD.

And I've had Windows switch drive letters on me on ocassion -- e.g., double counting an optical drive as D and E (as two drives) forcing the USB drive that normally is recognized as E to become F.
