Reducing incremental backup size

Thread needs solution

I have searched the forums but could not find an issue similar to mine much less a solution.

My tib files can some times be 1G and sometimes 5G for my incremental backups. I understand that this has to do with the amount of data that has changed on the disk. What I am looking for is a way to track down what files ATI sees as having been changed so I can try to reduce the size of the incremental tibs.

I also don't understand the relationship between the .tib files which has file dates that correspond to my backups and the contents of the .tib files which also correspond to my backups.

TrueImage sees ANY changed sector as one to be included in an incremental image. Sector contents can change for any number of reasons, including being moved by a defragmenter, or being backed up into the daily shadow copy storage area.

If you are defragmenting the disk daily, you could consider doing this less often. Also, you could exclude the Vista/Win 7 Restore Points from your image in an attempt to make the daily incremental image files smaller. For more information about how to do this, see this thread: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/3965
