Reformatting hard drive then restoring

Thread needs solution

Hi, What is the procedure for reformating the hard drive and restoring it from DVDs? I looked here and on the internet, but found nothing what I was looking for.

What I want to do is: 1. Reformat my hard drive(low level I think it's called). 2. Restore it with a backup I would make to DVDs.

I've tried this before, but it didn't work. I would like exactly to know how to do this. I've searched the forums but found nothing.

Thanks. Paul

 Hello Paul!

Thank you for finding your time to join us and share your concerns with us, we really appreciate it! I understand the scenario you would like to proceed and will be glad to assist you.

First of all please note that in case you're recovering the entire drive there's no need in reformatting the drive - all the data will be erased and automatically overwritten by the recovery. We will be glad to help you with the low-level reformatting, but the process is quite specific and not always required. It is highly recommended to perform low level reformatting with the help of vendor's tools in order to avoid possible technical issues. Should you need to perform simple formatting (wiping the drive and creating new parititons on it), I'd suggest you to check these instructions

I'd like to help you with the problem and would appreciate if you could let me know the details of the issue you've faced previously.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!
