Registry Cleanup - some entries remain

Thread needs solution

I have uninstalled True Image 2014 and have run the 2014 Cleanup utility. There are still several instances of the word "Acronis" in the registry. Is it ok to delete all registry entries that mention Acronis? (I also had previous years of True Image installed.)

Thank you, Art Lieberman

Unless you *really* know what you are doing, do not trifle with the registry entries. Some entries are low-level drivers that you won't be able to touch, some of them are for filters. Doing the wrong delete in the wrong order will result in blue screens.

If you look for older posts in the older versions section of the forum, you will find users who went into deep analysis on how to remove the 2012 left overs. http://forums.techarena.in/windows-software/1448739.htm

There are 3rd party apps, so called registry cleaners, that can help as well. CCleaner is my favorite.

Art,
There is risk anytime you use any cleaner--even the good ones. I use several of them regurly but always with a fresh backup.

If you want to clear those, I would first boot from the TI CD and perform a full and complete backup and then you can remove Acronis from any entries knowing the backup can be restore to put you bac to where you were at the time of the backup.
