Remove Cobian Backups

Thread needs solution

I purchased Acronis True Image Home vs 11.0 build 8.053 about a year ago.  Before that I used Cobian Backup.  I removed the Cobian with an add/remove program but I was not able to remove the backups.  I reinstalled the Cobian and tried to remove them.  No success.  Removed the Cobian again.  Tried at least 20 file and folder removal programs.  Cannot get rid of them.  The Acronis will not complete a backup because it is caught in a loop from these former backups.  I have been able to remove some of the folder contents manually but not all of them.  There are hundreds or even thousands of them that will not remove.   Any suggestions.  I really want to use my Acronis.   Thanks.    Bruce

Hello Bruce,

Thank you for using Acronis Products

If you have Vista OS then you can try the following workaround. Enter "cmd" in the search box under the Start menu and press CTRL + SHIFT + Enter to launch the command prompt with administrative privileges. Alternatively, you can also right-click the highlighted result and choose the "Run as administrator" option. Now, there is a simple command that you must type, namely "net user administrator /active:yes" without the inverted commas. In order to disable it, enter "net user administrator /active:no". Delete the folders.

In case you have Windows XP try some third-party software, eg. Unlocker.

Hi Dmitry,

I have tried just about everything to get rid of these folders.  I am using XP.  None of the third party software works for this removal and I cannot use Acronis until they are gone.  So, for now, I am not using backup at all and that is just dangerous.  So far, good luck with losses though.   Bruce

I recently used "Unlocker" to delete a file that refused to be deleted by anything I had tried.
