Resizing Problem and Active Primary Partition Issue During Disk Recovery - TIH 2010
1. During an attempt to restore my old disk to a new, bigger one, I was able to re-size all the partitions except the system (C) partition, which came up last. The C partition size was about the same size as on the old, smaller disk, where the partition was half empty. The disk size number was grayed out and the re-sizing slider would not allow any change in size.
The computer is a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop with MediaDirect 3.0 and Windows XP. I ultimately was able to place and size the MediaDirect partition properly.
As a workaround, I am thinking of restoring the disk with the limited C partition. Then I will expand C to fill the unallocated space using Partition Wizard - if the unallocated shows as such.
Will this work?
2. TIH showed only the backed-up C partition as primary and active. When I did the settings for the recovery partition, it specified the default type as primary and active and would not permit the "active" box to be unchecked. Is this a problem?
