[RESOLVED] Cannot save backup settings as default.
The first release of True Image 2013 worked fine, would save settings as default (I like to do full backup and validate when image is created, as I just manually back up every 2-3 days). The program update installed without incident (True Image and the Plus Pack), but it would not save settings. I uninstalled, used the Acronis Cleaner to remove all traces, reinstalled, and True Image 2013 will still not save any settings as default (yes I click the box to save as default). I am using Win8 64 bit if that makes a difference.
Issue resolved here.

I am just doing a backup, setting it to do a full backup and validate image when created. I click the box to save these settings as default, but the next time I run True Image, it is back to the original settings. So I guess you would call it a new task, but I don't do anything fancy, I just manually do a full backup every 2-3 days.

I am not using TI on Win 8, but yes, it could make a difference. Under W8 programs are not allowed to write to parts of the registry that formerly worked, means settings stored in there are simply not stored. A common workaround is to start the program (here TI) with a right mouse click as admin. Check if then the settings got saved.

Well, True Image by default runs in administrator mode. Looking at the registry, I can see that the settings are stored in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Settings\backupfile I would edit them manually if I knew what they all meant.
Addendum : I changed the value of the validate key from 0 to 1 as an experiment. As soon as I ran True Image, the value was changed back to 0. I guess there is a problem with True Image saving the values as default to the registry, as it always returns it to the original settings.

You might be right, but please note that running the program as admin via right mouse click is something different than running it under your admin account anyway.

Any movement resolving this issue that has been going on for a number of months now and is a real pain to deal with? Can we revert to a previous update/version that SAVES the schemes until this issue is resolved with the current version?

Yeah I have the same issue whether it's on a Win7 machine or Win8 machine. The settings won't save. I might use the older version for now until this issue is fixed. Luckily I have saved the older version in my portable hdd.

Hello Everyone,
thank you for posting.
As a workaround you can revert to the not-latest build (you can always find an appropriate installation file under your account in "My products and downloads" tab).
This issue has been resolved and fix will be available in next official version of the product.
