[RESOLVED] Update 2 for Acronis True Image Home 2012 - problems

Thread needs solution

It killed what I thought was a good working version upgrade.

Now I get the following FATAL messages when I try to do anything

1. A new version of Acronis True Image Home 2012 is ready for installation.

2. Failed to deploy task. Scheduling service is off.

3. The above message repeats a second time. (Ptrobably because I previously set up 2 scheduled backups daily, which this message tells me will no longer run.).

4. The "upgrade" installation to the otherwise then working copy, gave the following as part of its AcronisTrueImage.msi.txt file.

MSI (s) (28:68) [13:35:47:066]: Note: 1: 1708
MSI (s) (28:68) [13:35:47:066]: Note: 1: 2262 2: Error 3: -2147287038
MSI (s) (28:68) [13:35:47:066]: Note: 1: 2262 2: Error 3: -2147287038
MSI (s) (28:68) [13:35:47:066]: Product: Acronis True Image Home 2012 -- Installation failed.

Please get me to a good working version.

Issue resolved here.

Greetings User,

Thank you for taking the time to post on our Forum, we appreciate your time and effort.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience the installation issue has caused. It is highly likely that the issue resulted from the Acronis Scheduler2 service not starting, and therefore you could not perform any tasks whatsoever.

Since you have reinstalled the previous build to Acronis True Image Home 2012, I do strongly suggest that you reattempt to install the latest update release build number 7119, without any concerns that you'll be unable to properly use your product. Should you choose to do so, then you may very well perform the required yet simple steps from this Knowledge Base article to enable the Acronis Scheduler2 service, and use Acronis True Image Home 2012 without further worries.

Please note that uninstalling and, only then, installing the latest release build is advised, in case any issues crop up with an installation of the latest build over the previous build.

Should any issues ensue after following the guidelines to enable the start-up of Acronis Scheduler2 service, you may collect Acronis System Report and create an MSI log for the installation issue, and contact Acronis Customer Central for a full investigation of the matter.

Best regards,

Thank you for the reply.

However, I have had so many problems since upgrading to the 2012 versions, and have spent so much time, since. Including fixing my computer system, which became inoperable, and on the verge of having to be scraped, that I am reluctant to yet try another install of the upgrade.

Therefore, as I wrote to Tulsi Saha in customer service, I want to be pointed to the web site where I can get a copy of Acronis True Image 10 Home, and re-install this copy.
The version 10 was working fine on my system, Windows XP, SP3.

Thank you.
