[RESOLVED] USB3 Help
I use a USB3 to SATA adapter on a SSD - Crucial 128GB V4.
I have benchmarked the SDD and the USB3 port while in Windows 7 OS.
While connected to the USB3 port I get sequential speed benchmarks of 200MB/s for read and 170MB/s for write.
While connected to the USB2 port I get sequential speed benchmarks of 38MB/s for read and 27MB/s for write.
While in Windows 7, using Acronis obviously I have done backups to both ports. With the USB3 port I am done in about 10 minutes. Using the USB2 port I will be honest, I have not timed it specifically, but it would not surprise me if I was pushing 2 hours; which considering my benchmark speeds "adds up".
I do like and prefer however using the bootable media via CD to do my backups.
My USB3 ports are not recognized on my laptops. When I plug the harddrive in via my USBat 3 to SATA adapter to a USB3 port, the light flashes briefly, but then thats it; Acronis does not display anything. Luckily my laptop has a USB2 port, so I can get things to work just fine. But, having experienced the speeds of USB3, having my backups run on USB2 is painfully slow.
What can I do to get the USB3 ports to work with the bootable media? I would be willing to try WINPE also. If WINPE is an option, guidance would be appreciated on how I can determine which drivers if any I would need to get and the order, if it matters, on how to install the drivers.
Thanks ...
Edit:
My laptop is an HP DV6T-7000, 3rd Generation Intel I7, Windows 7 Professional. Let me know what else I can provide that may help.
