Restore of My-Email duplicates InBox emails

Thread needs solution

Hi all.

Longtime TI user currently running:
TI2010, b6053.
Windows 7
Outlook 2007

I perform a full system image of my main HDD (contains OS, Progs, Data) once a week. In addition, I would like to backup my emails daily using the My-Email option. My plan is that at any time, a restore of the full system image + restore of the latest daily email backup will bring my system pretty much back up to date.

When testing the Restore process out, the Full Image restores successfully but when restoring the daily email backup on top of that, I end up with all my emails duplicated in my InBox - current InBox and Archived Inbox. All other mailboxes restore correctly without duplications (sent items etc. etc.).

I recall having a play with this back in the days of TI9 (different OS, different PC then) and getting the same result so implemented another means of restoring email outside of TI but would like TI to manage all my backup/restore requirements.

Either I'm not using the product as designed or there is a problem on my system.

Appreciate your help getting this issue resolved - it's sure got me beat!.
Thanks.

Hello,

Let me clarify this situation for you.

Generally, the e-mail backup is .pst file backup (this file contains all settings and mails from particular e-mail application) and surely when you restore it back, it just restores the whole bunch of e-mails back, that's why you're receive the duplication. If you'd like to avoid this situation - clear all e-mail settings or delete your current .pst file before the recovery.

Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes I could delete the original .pst if it exists prior to restore but I'd have thought by selecting the restore option to 'Overwrite existing files and folders' would achieve the same thing.

I'm not convinced it is designed to work that way as when Restoring the .pst file it does not duplicate emails in all inboxes nor my contacts and calendar entries for example.

Perhaps you could explain why that is?

Also, there is no mention about having to delete the .pst file before restore in the documentation that I could find.
