restore points question

Thread needs solution

These are pre-purchase questions:

Windows has a restore point utility, but it doesn't work for me on my Dell (XP) laptop; probably because the last time I had to re-install the OS I partitioned my new (and larger) disk into several partitions. G is now the system partition, and I have another personal partition and several as yet unused partitions.

I'm just guessing this is why the Windows restore point utility doesn't work (it goes ahead and creates periodic restore points, but when I try to employ them I get an error).

Anyway, will your True Image 2010 software create usable restore points in spite of my hokey disk partitions? Are they automatic like Windows does whenever you install a new application?

Another question; since I've read some versions are problematic I want to restrict my purchase to 2010 v-7046 or 2011 v-5519. Can I do that? If so, how do I do that? Is the version listed on the package I get from Best Buy?
