Restore query
Hi everyone
Now I'm probably being thick but....
Upgraded to Acronis TI 2012 (previously 2010). Took backups (disk level) of each of my three drives.
I then wanted to restore one of the images (drive contains data only... IE not the system disk) onto a new drive (an SSD... more speedy than my Vraptor)). So removed the Vraptor and replaced it with the new SSD. Got so far in the proceedings and ended up at a Window that said "Select target disk for MBR recovery". Now I'm a little confused here, I thought the MBR was only on the system disk!? (unless you have a dual boot system). So I'm assuming that I'm doing something wrong here!?
In the end I abandoned trying to restore the image to my new SSD and just cloned the old drive onto the SSD (and this appears to have worked fine).
All above tasks were attempted using the Acronis rescue boot disk.
It would be helpful for the future, if someone could help to put me straight on my original problem.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that. Information stored away for future reference.
I think my confusion has come about due to not reading the Acronis TI manual (yes I know... my excuse was it was getting a bit late). I had in fact done (as you deduced) partition level backups, rather than full disk backups. Confused even more, by me actually backing up the C: drive (slip of the mouse me thinks) and calling it the G: backup!! I've now read a couple of the handy guides that one of the folks on the forum has produced (think I'll print them off) and now have a better understanding of what I should be doing. As a side issue, I think the move from TI 2010, to 2012 was worth it. Much better laid out application.
Rather embarrassed to admit that I've been a computer programmer for some 30+ years now and have built my last few PC's myself, amazing what you can get away with (ignorance is bliss sometimes!)
Thanks again for taking the time to answer my query.
Regards Mike
